  Short version: Math Empire collects only what's needed to save your progress and improve the game. We do not sell your data. Children under 13 are welcome — we comply fully with COPPA.

1. What We Collect

When you use Math Empire, we may collect:

Display name — the ruler name you enter when you start
Email address and Google ID — only if you choose Google Sign-In (optional); used solely to save your progress
Game progress data — score, buildings, streak, grade level, and in-game currency, stored on our servers so you can restore your empire on any device
Anonymous gameplay telemetry — problems solved, session length, buildings placed; collected without personal identifiers to help us improve the game
Player code — a randomly generated code (e.g. SKY8234) used to identify your save file
Crash logs — device type, OS version, and error messages, to help fix bugs

We do not collect: location, contacts, photos, microphone input, camera, payment information, or any sensitive personal data.

2. How We Use Your Data

To save and restore your game progress across devices
To calculate leaderboard rankings and class progress (teacher accounts)
To diagnose crashes and improve the app
To send optional push notifications (daily streak reminders — you can disable at any time)

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or share it with third parties for marketing.

3. Google Sign-In (Optional)

If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account name, email, and a unique Google user ID. This is used solely to link your game progress to your account for easy recovery. We do not access any other Google account data. Google's Privacy Policy governs the sign-in process.

4. Telemetry and Analytics

Math Empire includes lightweight anonymous telemetry — events like "problem solved" and "building placed" — to understand how the game is being used. This data is not linked to your personal identity unless you are signed in with Google. You can turn off telemetry at any time in Settings → Privacy.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your game data is stored on our secure server at mathempire.app, located in the United States. All data transmitted between the app and our server uses industry-standard HTTPS encryption. Your data is never stored in plain text.

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Math Empire is designed for children ages 8–12. We fully comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 beyond what is described above
We do not display behavioral advertising to children
Ads, if shown, are configured for child-directed treatment via Google AdMob's child safety settings. No behavioral profiling is used.
We do not share children's data with third parties
No chat or social features — children cannot communicate with strangers
Parents or guardians may request deletion of their child's data by emailing [email protected]

7. Google AdMob

Math Empire may display non-personalized ads via Google AdMob for users who have not purchased the Pro upgrade. Ads are configured with child-directed treatment per COPPA. No behavioral profiling or interest-based targeting is applied. Google's Privacy Policy applies.

No other third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs are included in Math Empire.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Your game data is retained as long as your account is active. To request complete deletion of your account and all associated data:

Include your Player Code or the email used for Google Sign-In

We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

10. Push Notifications

The app may request permission to send push notifications for daily streak reminders and updates. These are entirely optional. You can disable notifications at any time in your device's Settings app.

11. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights including access to, correction of, deletion of, and portability of your personal data. Contact us at [email protected] to exercise any of these rights.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via an in-app notification. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version.
